Tess Alexander
Tess has a deep appreciation for midwifery, for continuity of care, and for witnessing the moment a woman walks away from her birth empowered to say "I did it." With two aunties who are both midwives and maternal and child health nurses, perhaps it was always going to be her calling.
After Hollie experienced Tess's care through Midwifery Group Practice during her first pregnancy, she knew every woman deserved to have a Tess in her corner. Hollie asked Tess to come on board as a co-founder in the early stages of Her Journey's development, and from there, the two of them grew the platform together: shaping its direction, its ideas, and the team of clinicians who help bring it to life.
Tess has supported many women in person through pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond, and through Her Journey she hopes to reach even more. Ultimately, Tess wants every woman to know their options, to feel supported, and to have access to the information they need to make confident decisions about their care.
In 2024, Tess birthed her first baby at a planned home birth, supported by her partner, two registered homebirth midwives, and the guidance of a dear midwife friend. It was the safety and calmness of being at home, surrounded by people she knew, that reminded her why continuity and trust matter more than anything else in birth. It's the same feeling of being fully informed and fully supported that she wants for every woman who uses Her Journey.
"I want every woman to feel empowered and to know her options. The care you receive during pregnancy and birth shapes your entire experience of becoming a family, and every woman deserves to feel supported through that."
Tess
