What a fertility service does
Fertility clinics investigate why conception is not happening and offer treatment, from cycle tracking and ovulation induction through to IUI and IVF.
Guidance is generally to seek help after about twelve months of trying under 35, or six months from 35, and sooner if there is a known reason to. You do not have to wait out the clock if something feels wrong.
Referrals, fees and Medicare
You will need a GP referral to claim Medicare rebates.
Medicare covers part of the cost of investigations and IVF cycles, and out-of-pockets are still substantial and vary a lot between clinics. Bulk-billed and low-cost clinics exist in most states.
